Leadership Conference, Question #1

In Room24 we are finishing up a unit about leadership entitled Follow My Lead. (Information on our Leadership Conference here.) Students are working on answering four questions in the process of developing leadership skills. Each of the four questions is a separate post.

Room24 students: sign in and answer the questions as a comment, or ask a new question that comes to mind.

Visitors: Please answer the questions yourself, ask a question of my students or provide a comment rich with sage advice which will guide these young people down the path of leadership (no pressure).

Our first question is this: What is leadership? What qualities do I already have that are similar to that of great leaders?

Here's our discussion about the definition of
leadership:

  1. I think I would also add that leaders are intelligent, adaptable, flexible and empathetic. Most importantly, leaders have integrity.

  2. Awesome comment Cathy. That word "integrity" was escaping me, but it is vital. Understanding why you are making a decisions is important and knowing how that supports the greater good helps.

To be leaders set an example. They do not need to be vocal, sage, or great verbal communicators. Their actions need to prove they know what is right.
